Manila, Philippines – The National Food Authority is expected to start publishing at least 700,000 bags of NFA rice (LGU) this week as part of the implementation of food security emergency.
In a radio interview yesterday, Agriculture Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Arnel De Mamea said that the NFA shares sell rice shares per kg, and the LGUs can resell the main at 35 per kg.
“There is still a need to address the bureaucratic process between the NFA, Food Terminal Inc. and LGs. All this will be finalized this week, and a total of 700,000 bags,” DE. Said Mesa.

De Macea added that the release of NFA rice is necessary to release the warehouses from the stock at the time of the harvest of local farmers.
“The efficiency of the NFA’s warehouses is very low. That is the purpose (food safety emergency),” he added.
He noted that the harvest for the dry season will already begin until April in March.
According to De Mesa, Diu Laurel will immediately raise the food safety emergency as soon as the retail price of the rice is reduced.
Apart from the food safety emergency, the administrative order has reduced the imported rice tariff by 15 percent after imported rice after 62 and failed to cut prices.
