The state government is benefiting from the United Kingdom Agritec Center in the field of increasing agriculture and livestock production with science and other technical solutions.
This is set up by the Center to create an agricultural center within one of the state’s agricultural business centers, which will help you revolutionize agriculture in the state and provide opportunities for technical innovations in agricultural practice.
Dr Debo Akande, Administrative Advisor to the Governor of Oyo, on Monday, during the visit of the UK delegation to the Governor of the Oyo State, Sey Makinde in Ibadan.
The construction of the Agritec Center is a funded plan that will benefit the state.
Mr. Mark Smithson, director of the UK Business and Business Department, was in Nigeria, comprising agricultural business experts, academics and other organizations who create the UK Acritch Center.
Speaking shortly after meeting Governor Makinde, Dr Antonay said the visit was to address the expansion of trade and to address the opportunities between the state and the UK.
He said: “It came to talk to the Governor about the arrival of the United Kingdom representatives, the expansion of trade and the opportunity to be with a new effort with the US and the US government. The British government has the same.
“The second reason is that they have a new big project. This is a tripartite relationship between Brazil, the UK and Nigeria. This is called Agritec. Of course, Oyo state in Nigeria has become a priority state. So, they will implement this project into the state.
“Agriculture is run by technology. We have a lot of young people who have the same ability to produce it, but we should not have that knowledge. The project is going to provide them with the opportunity and resources.
We hope that this will help create ‘Akritek Hub’ within one of our industrial centers in Oyo. This is going to revolutionize agriculture. Agriculture is beyond the basis of technology, for innovation, precisely, machine, here, where the productivity and production of livestock within our state can be increased.
“Soon, this is a funded plan because it is a funded plan. They do not pass the conceptual phase, which is why they come here from the UK to meet shareholders and understand what our major needs and challenges are.
“This is a subsidy. It benefits the government.”
Speaking further, Mr. Smithson discussed the opportunities in the agricultural area with Governor Makinde and other shareholders of the state.
Smithson said: “In February 2024, the United Kingdom and Nigeria signed an investment corporation, which includes 40 different chapters. One of the priority regions of the UK and Nigeria is the agricultural sector.
“So we have come here today to talk to the governor and the shareholders of the state, the opportunity to cooperate with the UK and Nigeria in the agricultural sector.
“We also have colleagues from the England Agritec Center here to investigate how the London -based business and business department will look at what the partnerships and opportunities are.
“The UK Acritch Center, as an organization, has 300 members of the private sector and educators, and they bring to Nigeria Science and Technology -based solutions, which will help improve productivity in agriculture.”
