Sunday Times editor Magudu Sebara was elected as the new Chairman of the South African National Teachers’ Council (SANEF) at the first 2025 council meeting in Cape Town.
Sefara, who was formerly the Chairman of the Media Independence Committee of the Media Independence Committee, changed his position to Nawabisa Makunga, who resigned from his post after being promoted to an administrative role in Arina Holdings.
The incoming leader challenged the organization to protect media freedom and strengthen the industry as it faced economic challenges.
“I take advantage of this opportunity, and remember that it is coming to the time of the industry. Many news rooms ask the question of how they are going to turn the corner without losing confidence, and they expect better solutions when shutting down, and it is disabled in the quality of work.
