In response to the recent dismissal of six Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations of the US government, President Claudia Shinebam has announced a series of constitutional reforms, which will be sent to Congress.
During his morning conference, the President explained that the proposed changes would strengthen national sovereignty and that cooperation with the US on security issues would not interfere in internal matters.
Changes in Articles 39 and 40 of the Constitution include changes to re -confirm that any foreign intervention should have the approval of the state in the Mexican territory. In addition, Mexico will be established that it will not accept any intervention that threatens its integrity and freedom.
According to Section 19, it is expected that any foreigners participating in illegal activities related to these interventions are expected to use the most severe sanctions, including informal prevention. Similarly, they will be punished with the maximum penalties for illegally manufacturing, distributing or introducing weapons in the country.
Shinbam also said that the Foreign Ministry will expand the case filed against manufacturers and arms dealers in the United States, and it has been pointed out to facilitate the sale of weapons to criminal groups in Mexico.
These reforms arise in the context of growing tensions between the two countries in the protection of the Sinalova Cartel, Jallisco Newva General (CJNG) Cartel (CJN and the new Micovagan family in their terrorist organizations.
The president stressed the importance of addressing armed trafficking as a shared issue, noted that the highest percentage of weapons used in organized crimes in Mexico comes from the United States.
