Former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar was prepared at the Roose Avenue Court on Wednesday.
Congress MP in Sikh riots Sajjan Kumar was accused of Wednesday. The Roose Avenue Court will be sentenced on February 18.
The verdict in this case came after 41 years. Two Sikhs were murdered in Saraswati Vihar during the 1984 anti -Chic riots.
In fact, on November 1, 1984, Sardar Jaswant Singh and his son Tarundeep Singh were killed in the Raj Nagar area of West Delhi. The gang’s chief is said to be Gentleman Kumar. A case was registered at the Saraswati Vihar police station in Delhi.
Earlier, in December 2018, the Delhi High Court’s double bench of Sajjan Kumar was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was accused of provoking violence and riots. He has already been sentenced to Tihar.
The case was filed against Sajjan Kumar under 147, 149, 148, 302, 308, 323, 395, 395, 397, 427, 436, 440 riots, murder and robbery.

Court acquitted in Sultanpuri riots case In September 2023, the Roose Avenue Court acquitted Sajjan Kumar in the murder of three people in Sultanpuri of Delhi. In the Sultanpuri riots, CBI chief witness Sam Kaur accused Sajjan Kumar of provoking the gang. After 13 years, on September 20, 2023, the Roose Avenue Court declared Sajjan Kumar and the accused in the case.
1984’s Sikh riots: When did it happen …
- On October 31, 1984, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated.
- On the second day, on November 1, anti -Chic riots erupted in many parts of the country, including Delhi.
- According to PTI, only 2700 people were killed in Delhi at that time. The death toll was near 3,500 nationwide.
- In May 2000, the GT Finance Commission was set up to investigate the riots.
- On October 24, 2005, the CBI filed the case on the recommendation of the Finance Commission.
- On February 1, 2010, the trial court issued a summons to Congress leaders Sajjan Kumar, Palwan Gokar, Mahendra Yadav, Captain Pakmal, Kishary Lal, Kishan Gokar, Maha Singh and Santosh Rani.
- On April 30, 2013, the court declared Sajjan Kumar innocent.
- The CBI appealed to the High Court on July 19, 2013. On July 22, 2013, the Supreme Court issued a notification to Sajjan Kumar.
- On December 17, 2018, the Supreme Court sentenced Sajjan Kumar to life imprisonment.
- Balwan Gokar, Bagmal and Kritari Lal were sentenced to life imprisonment. The sentence of Mahendra Yadav and Kishan Gogok has been raised for 10 years.
- After 21 years of the riots, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh apologized to Parliament. Whatever happened, he said his head was shameful.
What is the anti -Chic riot? In 1984, anti -Chik erupted after the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi launched an Operation Bluoster at the Golden Temple complex in Punjab to control Sikh terrorism in Punjab, in which many, including terrorist Bindranwala, were killed. The Sikhs were angry about the incident.
A few days later, Indira Gandhi was shot dead by her Sikh bodyguards. After this, the anti -Chic riots began nationwide, which was the biggest impact on Delhi and Punjab. About three and a half thousand people were killed during the riots.
