Residents in different zones are demanding large buildings for ration shops

Residents of various zones of the city have demanded that new buildings be waiting for the toilets for waiting halls and rational shops. Councilors have flagged off the issue of lack of modern infrastructure for the Public Distribution Organization (BTS) shops and have called for the construction of new shop buildings on the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) land.

According to Exmore Ward 61 Councilor Fatima Ahmed, GCC officials in Zone 5 (Rayapuram) did not identify the locations of BTS shops in Bhupathi, near Gaza Major Road. “Residents have demanded new buildings for the BTS shop. But the GCC Zone officials have delayed the identification of the land for the construction of the shop. It has been a month and a half to hear the land appropriate for the shop, ”he said.

The councilors who have demanded land for BTS shops have asked GCC officials to coordinate with other departments to identify land parcels to build large modern buildings. Many BTS shops operated from rental buildings in the city.

KS from Mukaliwakkam said that most of the rented buildings of BTS shops, including Mughalikavam in the Alandur zone, are operating from 200 sq. Ft. “Residents are waiting near the BTS shops on the road and during the rain. We want big buildings, ”he said.

Mogapeer Westin Lourd Mary, residents at the BTS shop have demanded toilets and drinking water for several hours near the shop.

We are already standing out in the middle of the crowded road near the Mambalam railway station. During the time of distributing welfare programs, people should stand in line, ”he said.

“The Tuice building was replaced overnight without looking for residents many years ago. We protested, but it had no effect,” said Mr. Jayaraman.

Officials of the Food and Consumer Protection Department said that due to inadequate space in crowded areas, BTS shops in the city would coordinate with GCC councilors, MLAs and MPs to construct new buildings.
