The massive pilgrims who attended Mahakumbu caused heavy traffic congestion in Prayagraj, and thousands of people were trapped on the roads without food and water for several hours.

Reports suggest that all the roads leading to the Ganga, Yamuna and mythological Saraswati rivers were crowded with vehicles. Devotees even struggled to walk towards the association amidst confusion.

In addition, the ways of connecting Prayakraj to Madhya Pradesh, Lucknow, Varanasi and other areas were heavily packed with vehicles. Many devotees said they were waiting for more than eight hours to reach the association.

The Paragaraj Sangam railway station was closed due to excessive meeting outside the station.

In many places, pilgrims have noticed that they are arguing with police officers, demanding the removal of barricades to allow their vehicles to pass.

Anamika Tiwari, a devotee, shared for several hours with the experience of being trapped for a few kilometers before Prayagraj. “It took five to six hours to travel six kilometers,” he said.

The reports also pointed out the confused footage of Varanasi, Hardoi and other stations, where passengers traveling to the Maha Kumbh have already tried to enter the crowded boxes, locked from the inside.

In Varanasi, a group of women entered the machine of a train heading to Priyagraj, unable to enter the passenger trainers. They were then removed with the help of the police. Meanwhile, Hardoi, frustrated passengers destroyed the trainees, unable to access the crowded boxes.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav criticized the state government of its “bad arrangements” and called for food and water to the devotees who had been trapped for several hours. He questioned on social media, “Isn’t ordinary devotees human beings?”

ADCP (transport) Kuldeep Singh said, “The number of vehicles is very high and passengers are trying to get as close to the Maha Kumbh Mela area. Because of this, there is a long congestion. Singh said that almost the same crowd is now coming up as the ‘unni amvasya’ came.

He said, “50 per cent of the distance parking lot is packed. The nearby parking lot is a small parking lot, while the distance parking space is large,” he said.
