Mother, baby dies after munic car attack

German police on Saturday confirmed that a 37 -year -old mother and her two -year -old daughter were injured in a car attack in Munich on Thursday.

At least 37 people were injured after a vehicle was deliberately thrown into the crowd, according to the Daily Post.

Officials said that the 24 -year -old Afghan asylum seeking to be identified by the local media was arrested and attacked by the suspect.

Munick police spokesman Ludwick Waldinger confirmed the deaths, “Unfortunately, we must confirm the deaths of a two -year -old child and her 37 -year -old mother today.”

Officials say the suspect came to Germany in 2016 and was allowed to stay despite the rejection of asylum. He had a valid residential and work permit, and there was no pre -criminal record.

Although there were no direct contact with jihadi groups, Munik General Prosecutor Gabriel Tilman said that when the suspect was detained, he shouted “Allahu Akbar”, and that he may have been “Islamic motivation.”

The attack revealed security and immigration debates in Germany just days before the February 23 federal elections.

There is an increasing number of concerns over the violent incidents involving immigrants, which has turned immigration a central propaganda issue.

The attack took place in the forefront of the Munik Security Conference, a major international council on global security, which began on Friday. Upon arrival in the city, US Vice President JD Vans expressed his condolences to the victims.

Germany has faced many violent attacks associated with migrants in recent months:

December 2024: A 50 -year -old Saudi asylum seekers drove a car in the Christmas market, killing six people and injured nearly 300 people.

January 2025: 28 -year -old Afghan asylum seekers in a knife attack in Bavaria kills a two -year -old child and passage.
