A 23 -year -old man stabbed five people in Villach, South Austria on Saturday, 15, in which police said it was an random attack, which was 14 -year -old, dead and four others wounded.
The suspect was arrested. According to local police, he is a Syrian citizen with a legal residence in Austria.
All the victims are men. Two people were seriously injured and the two suffered minor injuries.
According to police spokesman Reainer Dionysio, the reason is not immediately known. He added that the police are investigating the personal history of the occupant. “We have to wait until we get safe information,” he said.
A 42 -year -old man working at the food distribution company saw the incident of his car. He drove towards the suspect, and helped to prevent things from getting worse, Dionysio told the Austrian public broadcasterOrf.

It is not clear whether the suspect is acting on his own and continues to search for additional suspects, police said. It is not known whether there is any connection between the occupant and the victims.
According to the Interior Ministry of Austria, 24,941 foreigners sought asylum in Austria in 2024. The largest applicants come from Syria, followed by Afghanistan.
In the last two years, the number of asylum applicants has declined significantly. By 2022, the orders reached over 100,000, while about 59,000 people sought asylum in 2023.
Several European countries, including Austria, said in December that the results of Syrian citizens have been suspended due to the worst political situation in their homeland after the fall of Bashar Assad.
