Lopla has announced that it is pursuing a pilot program of employees wearing body cameras in two places.
Retail company confirms Shopkeepers medicine Mart 32930 South Fraser Way and Real Canadian Superstar On the Gladwin Road, in the Abodsford, will be part of the project.
“Retail crimes, including violent incidents have risen significantly across the country in recent years,” said Catherine Thomas, Vice President of Lobla Companies.
“The safety of our customers and shop groups is our priority. As part of our continued efforts to improve shop safety, we are expanding the pilot of body wearing cameras to additional locations, including two places in Abhottsford.”
The company has already launched the project in Saskatoon and Calgary.
Thomas said this technology said that “we are helping to expand the circumstances and create a safe experience for customers and colleagues. We are obliged to implement meaningful measures to support safety in our stores.”
A notification at the door of the shopkeepers suggests that the cameras will only be operated when there is an increasing number of risk.

A privacy expert told Global News that the project raises some questions.
“You like a camera or you like the information, that is the facial images of people, personally identified data, which can be used for unprecedented purposes.”
“So that’s a warning story.”
Kachokian said that he understands that the increasing crimes in their stores want to do something about Lofla and that their employees should be open with the public about why they are wearing cameras.
He said that they should be removed from any incident and no scenes that are not needed for the police investigation.
Kava Ou Kian said that when there is an expectation that police officers will wear body cameras, no one expected when shopping for groceries and other items.
“Privacy is the foundation of our freedom,” he added.
Kukokian said that although employees and companies do not have to deal with illegal incidents or personal security problems, it should be obvious as to what companies are doing and why.
Thomas confirmed that no scenes would be used for marketing, and the unnecessary scenes would soon be deleted.
“Otherwise, where the further inquiry is to be supported, the scenes will be stored in a secure, cloud -based system for the required deadline.
“In the event of an incident announced for law enforcement, these scenes will be shared with law enforcement in accordance with the applicable laws.”
