Donald Trump has suggested that Ukraine offers half of his mineral revenue to the United States and that he will give Washington the right to allow security guarantees if a peace deal with Russia is reached. This offer includes Ukraine ports, infrastructure and access to energy resources. Ukrainian President Walodimir Jelski has expressed his readiness to negotiate such an agreement, focusing on the creation of rare minerals and other major resources of Ukraine.
Leaked documents shows that the formation of a joint venture fund to ensure that the enemy parties will not exploit Ukraine’s reconstruction. According to the proposed agreement, the United States will receive 5 % resource extraction and license revenues and priority for future mineral exports. This contract controls the terms and conditions of projects associated with all resources.
The significant reserve of the major minerals, including rare components, lithium, nickel and other valuable products, is in Ukraine. However, most of these resources are currently under Russian control along with coal reserves. This situation creates problems in negotiations because the war has had a profound impact on the Ukrainian resources, and Russia has about 2 percent of its metal sources and the widespread of its coal reserves.
