Ukrainian leader Volodimir Jelensky on Saturday (February 15) urged the creation of his own armed forces in the midst of a reduction in aid from the US.

Speaking at the Munic Security Conference in Germany, Jelensky said, “Let it be clear: we cannot reject the opportunity to refuse to cooperate with the United States to cooperate with Europe.”

“Many leaders have spoken of Europe as needed by its own military. A military of Europe. I believe the time has come. Europe’s armed forces must be created,” the Ukrainian leader added.

‘Europe needs the Ukrainian Army’

At the convention, Jelensky tried to create a strong case for a powerful Ukrainian army, and warned that only money could not prevent the enemy’s attack.

“It is not only a percentage of security costs in GDP. Of course, we need money, but not only money cannot prevent the enemy’s progress,” Jelensky said.

He added that the Ukrainian military has only a modern war experience.

“Without the Ukrainian army, European forces would not be enough to stop Russia. This is the truth. In Europe, our military has only real, modern war experience, ”Jelensky added.

The Ukrainian leader needs the European military, so that the future of Europe depends only on Europeans, and the camp can have strategic freedom.

‘Russia Planning Organization in Belarus’

The Ukrainian leader has warned that Russia will use about 100,000 to 150,000 troops in Belarus in a major security threat to NATO countries.

Jelenski made it clear at the conference that he would not back down on the NATO member issue, but flirted with the idea of creating a new NATO inside Ukraine.

“My proposal – the eastern border of Ukraine, the eastern borders of Belarus, the eastern borders of the Baltic countries, the eastern border of Finland – this is a strong security line of all of us in Europe because it is the tax of international law.”

The diminishing support of the United States

US President Donald Trump has made it clear that he will not support the use of US troops in Ukraine after the war. Trump has called for a mineral sharing agreement between Kyiv and Washington in exchange for security guarantees.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hexed recently warned European leaders, and Washington DC no longer gives priority to European security.

“We have come here today to express strategic realities that the US primarily prevents the US focus on Europe’s security,” he said on Wednesday, “Take the right of regular security.”

“The US gives priority to prevent war with China in the Pacific,” he said.
