Why was violence in Bangladesh?
Bangladesh gained independence in 1971. The reservation system is practiced in Bangladesh from independence. Under this, 30 percent of the freedom fighters, 10 per cent for the youth of the country’s backward districts, 10 per cent for women, 5 per cent for minorities and one per cent for the disabled. In this way, Bangladesh had 56 per cent reservation in government jobs. In 2018, the youth of Bangladesh proved against this reservation. After several months of protests, the Bangladesh government announced the cancellation of the reservation.
On June 5, the Bangladesh Supreme Court ordered the re -enactment of the old reservation system in the country. The Sheikh Hasina government also appealed against the Supreme Court’s decision, but the Supreme Court upheld the order. This made the students angry and began to protest. Demonstrations from Bangladesh Universities later became a growing violent violence.
