‘Courts should stay away from politics,’ PTI President Prime Minister-CJP meeting

In the backdrop, Yahya Afridi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary leader Ali Jafar, told Prime Minister Shebas Sharif and Pakistan’s Chief Justice (CJP) on Thursday.

One day, at his invitation, the Prime Minister visited CJP Afridi’s residence to share the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the National Judicial Policy Committee (NJPMC).

Last week, CJP Prime Minister Shebas and Opposition Leader Omar Ayub Khan called on the Justice System to propose improvements in the upcoming NJPMC meeting.

Speaking at the Geo News program “Capital Doc”, the BTI consultant said such meetings should be “once” and should not be a regular practice.

“The CJP should not perform such meetings such as a regular (training) because it gives the appearance of politics.”

“It is correct that the Chief Justice has invited the meeting to the meeting. I am part of the delegation. I am going to meet Islamabad (Chief Justice) tomorrow at his residence,” he added.

Barrister Jafar said the 10 to 12-point meeting with the CJP included the law, the judiciary, the business cases and the digitalization of the judiciary.

“This is unusual because I haven’t seen it before. A Chief Justice meets a government and an opposition representative.”

It seems that such meetings may be an attempt to bring the government and the opposition to the same page, and the PTI leader added: “Such meetings should not be made in regular practice, it is good to create such a practice and give an opinion on government politics. ”

Responding to a question about the upcoming e -show, Barrister Jafar confirmed that there would be no conflict between their general rally and the current ICC event.

“PTI is not allowed to hold rallies in Punjab,” the BTI leader said.

Speaking of “political revenge,” he said the current government uses unused tactics in dictatorship.

The BTI lawyer reiterated that “the protests will be held after the PTI Eid ul Fitter.”

“The government will collapse if pending cases resume,” he added.

During the February 19 meeting, the CJP assured the opposition parties on the reforms of judicial reforms during the meeting with the prime minister, reading the Supreme Court’s statement.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by law minister Assam Nasir Darra, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Seema and Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Avan. SC Registrar Muhammad Salim Khan and the Secretary of Law and Justice Tanzeela Sabahat were also present at the event.

Chief Justice shared the agenda of NJPMC’s upcoming meeting and sought the input of the government.

CJP Prime Minister Shebas declared that he would take the input of the opposition parties, and his reform plan wants to carry two -party support, thus “reforms are consistent, stable and very effective.”

The Prime Minister praised the reform set and agreed that the government would soon provide its input.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office separately, Prime Minister Shebas has appreciated the initiative of the Chief Justice for the view of South Punjab, Interior Sindhu, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtungwa, and advised all shareholders to provide a useful and timely justice.

He accepted the Chief Justice of the long -pending tax confrontation in various courts and demanded the High Justice to ensure timely decisions on these cases based on merit. The Prime Minister confirmed the High Justice to accelerate the useful measures relating to the missing persons.
