Continue measures to rescue illegal miners trapped in Florida

Search and rescue groups have stopped their rescue operations to restore illegal mining workers trapped in unused shafts at the Rand Lease Minishaft in Johannesburg’s Ruttboard.

Illegal mining

Illegal mines continue to affect South Africa and drain billions annually from the country’s economy.

Mineral Resources Minister Quadey Mandashe has previously revealed that in South Africa has more than 6 000 people and no ownership mines.
