The Association of Renewable Fuels (RFA), which represents the Ethanan industry in the United States, expects US President Donald Trump to use a mutual fee for the biofilm produced in Brazil. In a statement, the association thanked Trump “for the pledge of reclaiming a fair and mutual business relationship between the US and Brazil.”
On Thursday, the White House quoted Brazil’s fees on American ethanol, a specific example of non -reclaimed treatment for the United States by announcing a comprehensive plan to implement mutual fees.
The Brazilian fee on US ethanol is 18% and about 2% of the Brazilian production country.
“We have spent the time and precious resources to fight the Brazilian government imposed by the Brazilian government for the importation of US ethanol for almost a decade,” said RFA leader and CEO Jeff Cooper in the statement. “These tariff barriers were set up against the US ethanol, while our country accepted – and promoted – ethanol imports in Brazil.”
According to RFA, US exports to Brazil from ethanol have been practically disappearing in recent years.
Cooper pointed out that US ethanol exports to Brazil in 2018 fell from 489 million gallons (1.85 billion liters), with US $ 761 million worth of $ 28 million gallon (106 million liters) in 2024, worth US $ 53 million.
