At least 15 people died during a seal at a railway station in the capital of India on Saturday.
The Kumbh Mela attracts tens of thousands of Hindu believers, the Northern city of Prayagraj every 12 years, and has the history of the crowd-related disasters-the Ganges, Yamuna and mythological rivers, when at least 30 people died in another seal in the Holy Sangam, including last month.
The urgency from the railway station in New Delhi seemed to leave on Saturday as meetings were struggling at the railway meeting for the event on February 26.
Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Ritu Saxena said, “I can confirm 15 deaths in the hospital, I can confirm the deaths. Most (perhaps died) may be hypoxia or some blatant injury, but it will be confirmed only after the autopsy.”
“Another 11 people have been injured. Most of them are stable and orthopedic injuries,” he said.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that “the loss of lives due to stupid at New Delhi Railway Station was very painful.”
“At this time of mourning, my thoughts are with grief families. Pray for the injured quickly,” Singh said in a social media post.
Governor of the capital, Vinay Kumar Saxena, said that the disaster management workers were asked to sort and “all hospitals are ready to address the relevant needs.”
Railway Minister Aswini Vaishnav said additional special trains are being held from New Delhi to destroy the urgency of the devotees.
The six -week Kumbh Mela is the largest milestone of the Hindu calendar, and about 500 million pilgrims have already attended the festival since last month.
In 1954, more than 400 people were trapped or drowned in the festival in 1954, which was one of the largest number of crowds worldwide.
In 2013, 36 more people were crushed, and the last festival was held in Prayagraj.
