Swede Elias Ymer appeared about the width of the hair better than the highest British Billy Harris, who won two ties, in a semifinal match, which lasted approximately two and a half hours in Chennai Open ATP Challenger on Saturday.
Ymer won 7-6 (5), 7-6 (2).
It was a match in which both served well and none was able to break. Ymer hit ten ES on Harris’s four, including the one who struck to secure his first set, and released guttural screaming. Ymer was particularly publicized because Harris has just placed a set point.
Ymer resorted to keeping Harris moving to face his heavy ground floor. The real clinician was his ability to intelligently place his winners – on corners and margins. It also helped that he had early leadership in ties: 2-0 in the first and 3-0 in the second.
Harris did not help that he was wrong more than his opponent. For example, he twice ignited and made a few unforced mistakes to admit the lead 3-0 in the second tie.
In the first semifinal, Frenchman Kyrian Jacquet won relatively simpler 6-4, 6-1 victory over Czech Dalibor Svrcina.
“I think he had a heat problem.” I also fought (with the heat), but I saw more than me. I am very happy with this victory. It is really good to be again in the final, ”said Jacquet, who last got to the Challenger final in July 2024.
Indian couple Ramkumar Ramanathan and Sakth Myneni lost 4-6, 4-6 with the Japanese duo Shintaro Mochizuki and Kaito Uesugi in the doubles final.
Results: Singles (semifinals): Elias Ymer (SWE) BT Billy Harris (GBR) 7-6, 7-6; Kyrian Jacquet (FRA) BT Dalibor Svrcina (CZE) 6-4, 6-1.
Doubles (final): SHIVADABLE PEDAL and UPTAIMA were the media and Kamal, 6-4-4-6
