This is an annual post on the MOO tennis blog, where I am going to predict the top ten seasons for the upcoming season. 2022 was a special old season – View last year’s results here And previous years here. We hope that 2023 is a more standard year in terms of rating points. Read on for my predictions 2023 …
10. Zheng Qinwen: I knew very little about Zheng Qinwen before 2012. It is now one of the names I am looking for in the draw. From #126 to 25 in 2022. I think the ten best calls in 2023.
9. Bianca Andreescu: After most of the year 2022, I thought Andreescu was on the verge of a big breakthrough. Although there has been constant progress in the right direction and the body helps for the most part, it did not happen quite. I am still amazed at the attitude and ambition of Andreescu and I think 2023 will return to the heights of 2019.
8. Jessica Pegula: Pegula has such a solid basic game and a stable mentality that I expect to maintain its position in the top ten. Can win the slaughter in singles? Hmm, I still do not see Pegula as a candidate for a title in Slams.
7. Liudmila Samson: I’m selling on Samson. The huge game coincided with the improved mentality. Samsonova began to ignite in the second half of 2022. I don’t think it was a lightning frying pan. More, the beginning of something big. I think Samson will reach at least one quarterfinals in 2023 and win the WTA 1000.
6. Belinda Bencic: The highlight of the last two seasons Bencic was undoubtedly played for his country. During her career, two rides were in the top ten. But they were both volatile. I feel that now is the time for Bencic to take this next step and be a support in the top ten in the world. I am still convinced that he will be upset in Wimbledon for one year. 2023?
5. Our Jabeur: Last year I missed ons from the first ten. Big error! Jabeur built on the excellent season 2021 achieveing new performances in 2022 with the Slam Back-to-back final. Top five? Yes. Can ons win stram? Hmmm I wave. I would like it to happen in Wimbledon after approaching in 2022.
4. Coco Gauff: There is a natural hesitation and vigilance with how Gauff ended 2022 and forehead completely off the shorts. I can see it at the end of the long and exhausting season. Excellent approach, constant learning and developing and versatile with a game for all surfaces. Gauff will continue to impress.
3. Amanda Anisimová: Following last year’s predictions I go to Anisim. I feel that the Anisim 2022 season was better than its season ending #24, which is released. Consistency will always be a question mark because it is so aggressive. High risk brings high rewards. I think Anisimova will win Slam in 2023.
2. Aryna Sabalenka: It is quite remarkable that Sabalenka ended in 2022 in the first five, because it was not to serve at the beginning of the season. I would be surprised if she had no one of this positive dynamics from the WTA final until 2023. I’m still on the fence, whether Sabalenka can really win Slam.
1. IgA Swiatek: No negotiations for number one. Swiatek won the US Open, who played a sub-pair for most of the tournament, and yet she still won the whole Coodle. Still some areas to improve-the second time it serves and the forehead can occasionally distort. However, the overall game is so solid and mentality is another level. It will take something strange to knit Swialtek from the number one perch. In 2023 I am going to the next two strikes, including one step closer to Slam career.
Best of the rest:
Barbora Krejcikova: Ostrava !!! It turned out that Krejcikova can beat literally anyone on her day. Hopefully a season without any major injuries. Top 15.
Hospital Maria: I am not convinced that Sakkari can keep the nerves in big matches. It’s one of those situations where I don’t think I believe it until I see it. I hope to show up I’m wrong. Top 15.
Naomi Osaka: Who knows. After such a demanding year with injuries, I think Osaka will recover. It can be #1. It wouldn’t be a surprise. Recently predict higher than the top 15 than it did not come to clay and grass, which is four months of season.
Marie Bouzkova: He wins matches through pure gravel and determination. It was an absolute wall in Wimbledon. He will have to take several other chances of the next step. Top 20.
Caroline Garcia: Was amazing in the second half of 2022. But when I watched Garcia during most of my career, I think I will always be cautious. Top 20.
Marketapout: I think Vondrous will be one of the biggest risers of the season. WTA Comeback Player of the Year for 2023? Top 20.
Garbiñe Muguruza: I have to mention the muga. In my top ten he is always present. It is essential to bounce off from #55 (!). How far away? I am not as hopeful as usual. Top 30.
Jule Niemeier: Great game. In 2022 she performed as best as possible on the big stage. Top 30.
Linda Noseka: After watching Noskova live in Rolly G, he amazed this year. Clean game. Fixed mentality. WTA newcomer of the year for 2023? Top 30.
Clara Tauson: Eek I went to Tauson in 2022. He really encouraged to make it seem to be appropriate again and won out of season matches. If he can stay healthy, then I think he will return to its top rating #33 at some point in 2023.
Karolina in civilian: I will never lose hope 😂. Muchova has a game and mentality for the victory of Slams. Her body has often disappointed her, so it’s hard to make predictions.
Predictions Slam:
Australian Open: Swiatek
French Open: Swiatek
Wimbledon: Benccccccccccccccc
USA open: Avizimová
