The defense of Valentin Valentin Vacherot from Monaco made the last qualifier Masamichi Imamura from Japan 6-2, 6-3 in the second round Pune Metropolitan 160 000 MAHA Open Challenger Tennis Tournament at the Balewadi stadium on Wednesday.

In the quarterfinals, Vacherot will play the eighth seed Alexis Galalarneau of Canada.

In the doubles, there were a lot of success for Indian players in the upper half of the draw, while three Indian teams in the lower half of the draw could not find their way forward.

Sakeh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanathan defeated Michael Geerts and Billy Harris 6-0, 6-4 to establish a quarterfinal against the best seeds Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Vijay Sundar Sandanth.

Niki Poonach in cooperation with Courtney Lock, finalists of Delli Challenger last week, set up a quarterfinal against the third seeds of Blake Ellis and Tristan Soonkate of Australia.
