Successful start in Palm Beach Gardens in beautiful Tuesday

Today was the Chamber of Commerce in Florida, a sunny, light breeze, in the mid -1970s (around 24 Celsius). It was a great day to play tennis in the Palm Beach Gardens tennis center.

I played my first match in 2025, in the 1970s of women (!) And defeated Donna Drosner. I played well and first I warm up with Jenny Klitch. All the seeds advanced to the semifinals to play on Thursday, Becky Timmis and I play one semifinal and Pat Purcell will take Kathy Foulk.

The match of Singles Day was among Daniel Esswein, a semi -finalist last year, and Shelly Works, her doubles. The match lasted approximately 2.5 hours when Shelly Eking pushed the second set of Tiebreak 12-10 (won the first set 63). The work is played by Susan Boyer, the champion’s advocate on … They used to play a 6.5 -hour match (after which both had doubles and Susan’s went three sets). Erin Boynton plays Christina Kaus in the second semifinal of the 60s.

The 1950s had only one match today, the tournament tomorrow starts seriously at the 50s with a round of 16. Susan Wright is the highest seed.

In the doubles he had Wright/Kaus a box with Sandra Allen/Susan Corey, in the first proceedings 5-3 before winning it 7-5 and then led 6-5 40-0 before he won the set 7-5 on the fourth match point . Allen/Corey had big portions and hit very hard!

Kathy Foulk/Betsy Savitt won her doubles in three sets above Lou Armstrong/Susan Wareing, 62 in the third. Pat Purcell/Jan Cochran won his match 4.1 above Debbie Burgess/Drosner.

There was only one 80’s match that was won by Betty Wachob, who scored a snow in Panhandle a week ago in Panhandle.

Today was lunch … sandwiches, fries and soup for players.
