The best seed of Anastasia Potapov won the WTA 250 tournament in Cluj-Napoca after returning in the final to defeat the world no. 72 Lucia Bronzetti 4-6 6-1 6-2.

This week, Russia has reached its first WTA final since Linz’s victory in 2023 February.

And today the 23-year-old has created a great return that raised his third main fame.

For Potapov it was her first performance on Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoce since 2022, when she made a semifinal.

On the other hand, Bronzetti – who expelled Simon Halep 6-1 6-1 earlier this week and ended the Romanian career – remains on one WTA title, which won in Rabat two years ago.

How did Potapov surpass Bronzetti?

At the beginning of the finals, the highest seed saved two points of interruption and then gathered the first break of the match in the sixth game to open 4-2 leadership.

But then the Russian suffered a collapse when the Italian continued to win four more matches – completely overcome the deficit – and won the opener.

Potapov, however, did not require the loss of the first heartbreaking scene when she continued to launch a large second after she won five matches in a row from 1-1 to force the referee.

After winning in the last five matches of the second set, the 23-year-old also started the third set with an early break and 2-0 leadership.

In the fifth game, the Russian won another break and which basically concluded an agreement when Seed no. 1 served for the match in the eighth game and completed its great return.
