In an impressive display of skill, Jessica Pegula emerged victorious in the Korea Open final, defeating Yuan Yue 6-2, 6-3 to claim her fourth career title. Pegula, the top seed in the tournament, demonstrated her dominance by dropping only one set throughout the event.

Expressing her delight at the win, Pegula shared, “My mom is Korean and she was adopted from here, so it’s really special to be able to win here. In the last few years, as my ranking has gone up, I’ve definitely felt so much more support from the fans, a lot more than I expected coming back here from five years ago. So it’s really special.”

Despite being in her first career final, the 128th-ranked Yuan exhibited no signs of nervousness, pushing Pegula early in the match. However, Pegula’s skill and composure shone through as she fended off Yuan’s early challenge with a stunning forehand winner.

Pegula’s relentless performance saw her claim eight consecutive games, securing the first set and building a 3-0 lead in the second, setting the stage for a potential quick victory. Although Yuan put up a fight to close the gap to 3-4, Pegula’s powerful baseline play ultimately propelled her to the title, marking her first triumph outside of North America since her win in Montreal earlier this year.
