In a nail-biting match at the Jasmin Open, Italian tennis sensation Jasmine Paolini clinched victory in the second round, securing her spot in the quarterfinals after a hard-fought battle against Petra Marcinko. The contest concluded just shy of the two-hour mark, with Paolini ultimately prevailing 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

Marcinko, granted a wildcard entry into the main draw of this week’s Tunisian event, displayed remarkable resilience in the second set, forcing the match into a decisive third. While Paolini held a slight advantage in first-serve points at 58% compared to Marcinko’s 54%, Marcinko demonstrated exceptional prowess in winning second-serve points, both on her own serve and in return.

Despite a setback in the second set, where Marcinko conceded only three points on her second serve, Paolini’s determined comeback proved pivotal as she harnessed the momentum to secure the victory.

In the crucial third set, Paolini momentarily dropped her serve but rallied back, clinching 69% of her first-serve points versus Marcinko’s 57%. She also dominated on return, claiming 12 out of 17 points on the Croatian’s second serve. A showdown against Lucia Bronzetti awaits Paolini in the quarterfinals.

Jasmin Open: Seeds Hold Firm

The Jasmin Open witnessed no surprises for the seeded players, except in the riveting clash between Katarina Zavatska and Nuria Parrizas Diaz. In an epic encounter lasting two hours and 35 minutes, the tenacious Spaniard overcame the Ukrainian, prevailing 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.

The last two matches showcased seeded players, both of whom secured their spots in the quarterfinals. Lesia Tsurenko, the fourth seed from Ukraine, displayed exceptional form, dispatching Claire Liu in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, after an hour and 48 minutes.

Meanwhile, France’s eighth seed, Clara Burel, exhibited remarkable resilience against Erika Andreeva, triumphing 6-0, 5-7, 7-6(2) after an intense battle lasting two hours and 36 minutes.
