Jacopo berrettini upsets sixth seed of Simakukuro in Chennai Open

: Italy Jacopo Berrettini, the younger brother of former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini, caused the first major upset of the main draw of Chennai Open ATP Challenger on Monday with a direct win over the sixth seed Sho Shimakukuro.

Berrettini, located no. 324 in the world, won 6-3, 7-6 against Shimakukuro in the first main match of the tournament. In the next match of the main draw, Japan defeated the fifth seed of Shintaro Mochizuki from Italy Enrico Dalla Valle 6-2, 6-1 to move to the last 16.

Meanwhile, four Indians failed to win their final qualifying matches. 21-year-old Chirag Duhan fought hard and then fell in the third Spekle with Yurii Dzhavakian 4-6, 6-1, 7-6. Dev Jazia went to three sets against Egor Agaphonova and then dropped to 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

On Tuesday, Ramkumar Ramanathan, Mukund Sasikumar and Karan Singh will play in the relevant first round matches. Two seeds of the tournament, Billy Harris in the UK, ranked 129 in the world and South African Lloyd Harris, which was placed on 142, will also start their singles campaign on Tuesday.
