When Alex de Minauur recorded 16. Single Davis Cup over Swedish Mikael Ymer, Hewitt was proud to show an example provided by Australia no. 1.
“I think we are lucky to have a leader like Alex de Minaur,” he said. “Top 10 player, who is really interested in Australian tennis and players who are going through. It is trying to help as much as possible and it will make my job easier. ”
De Minaur gave further support by passing a competitive first position against the “very hard” Ymer before he appeared with a victory of 7-5 6-1 to get Australia’s winning start in the 2025 team campaign.
The highlight for De Minaur competed in the cult royal tennis hall in Stockholm.
“There are so many history and culture in this court. It is very great to see and be part of, ”said de Minaur. “These are very special moments for the player and you never consider them for granted.”

It turned out that the ideal environment for a successful start in the competition, while Vukic recorded a victory of 6-4 6-4 over Leo Borg.
Vukic noted that it is “always difficult” to play his first match in Sweden so soon after the Australian Open.
“Representing your country (exist) different emotions and things, but overall I thought I did well and we are very, very pleased that we got another point for Australia,” he said.
Hewitt was excited in the way Vukic accepted the opportunity to represent the nation as its 116 player Davis Cup.
“Aleksandar Vukic got his opportunity to wear green and gold for the first time and did himself, his family and everyone in Australia really proud,” he said.
“I play away, there is always such pressure and expectation, especially in your first match and managed it very well.”

Attention is now addressing Australian Davis Cup in Stockholm, while Matt Ebden and John Peers are preparing to head Filip Bergevi and Andre Gorarson on the next day.
While Hewitt hopes for a singles victory that will make Australian progress in the Davis Cup 2nd round in September, the team’s captain notes: “We still have to prepare boys for backward singles (also).”
