Ben Shelton was the first to booked his place in Friday’s semifinals that passed through Lorenzo Sonego in four sets of 6-4 7-5 4-6 7-6 (4). It could have been a direct victory for the American, but in the end he managed to avert five.
Jannik Sinner then made minced meat Alexa de Minaur, who won 6-3 6-3 6-2 6-1 in a one-sided match to Rod Laver Arena, who gave fans only 1 hour and 48 minutes from sinful rule.

Ben Shelton goes to his second semifinal Grand Slam after victory 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (4) over Lorenzo Sonego.
Unlike New York, where there is usually a lot of fanfare about American participation, Shelton has quietly progressed in a draw and played solid tennis while he stayed under the radar.
