Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly taking the first steps to outpace Arsenal in the pursuit of Galatasaray’s standout talent, Kerem Akturkoglu, as the January transfer window approaches.

Akturkoglu, a 24-year-old winger, has garnered the attention of several prominent European clubs due to his remarkable performance during the 2023/24 season.

With five goals and seven assists in 16 games for Galatasaray this season, Akturkoglu has made a significant impact. His unforgettable goal against Manchester United in Galatasaray’s recent Champions League victory has further heightened his reputation.

In addition to Spurs and Arsenal, West Ham United is also expressing interest. However, according to reports from Turkey, Ange Postecoglou’s squad is intensifying its pursuit of Akturkoglu.

Tottenham’s recent injuries to Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic have created a deficiency in the wide positions, prompting preparations for the upcoming January transfer window.

Turkish newspaper Aksam has revealed that the North London club has initiated contact with Galatasaray and is seeking discussions with the player’s representatives.

To retain Akturkoglu’s services, Galatasaray is attempting to secure a new contract as soon as possible. Yet, Tottenham’s interest is not limited to Akturkoglu; they are also reportedly keen on defender Victor Nelsson.

Tottenham has an edge over Arsenal in the pursuit of Akturkoglu. Over the summer, Daniel Levy engaged in several transactions with the Turkish club, including the sale of Davinson Sanchez to the Super Lig and the loan of Tanguy Ndombele.

Despite Manchester United and Liverpool’s reported interest, Tottenham’s left-wing injury concerns may force them to act during the January transfer window.
