PV Sindhu secured a convincing victory in her women’s singles badminton match at the Asian Games 2023, defeating Chinese Taipei’s Hsu Wen Chi in the round of 32 in Hangzhou, China.

Despite her recent drop in badminton rankings to 15th, PV Sindhu displayed her prowess by defeating the 21st-ranked Hsu Wen Chi in straight games, with a score of 21-10, 21-15, in just 42 minutes at the Binjiang Gymnasium.

Despite her previous struggles with injuries, PV Sindhu showcased her agility and utilized her height advantage to dominate her opponent in the first game. Building a comfortable five-point lead at the break, the 28-year-old Indian badminton player went on to claim the first game in 18 minutes.

In the second game, Hsu Wen Chi introduced a few drop shots to challenge PV Sindhu, narrowing the lead to just one point at the interval. However, Sindhu managed to regain control and secured her spot in the round of 16.

In addition to PV Sindhu’s success, HS Prannoy, India’s top-ranked men’s singles player at world No. 7, had a straightforward victory over Mongolia’s world No. 311 Batdavaa Munkhbat. Prannoy secured a 21-9, 21-12 win in just 25 minutes.

Kidambi Srikanth was also set to compete in his round of 32 match against Yungyu Lee of the Republic of Korea later in the day.
