Jonquel Jones Sparks Liberty’s Comeback with 27-Point Performance, Forces Game 4 in WNBA Finals 2023

In a stunning turn of events, the New York Liberty soared to victory against defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces, with an 87-73 triumph on Sunday night, breathing new life into their championship dreams.

Liberty’s standout star, Jonquel Jones, emerged as the driving force behind their resounding success, delivering an impressive 27-point performance that prevented a series sweep. Adding to the Liberty’s firepower, Breanna Stewart contributed 20 points and secured 11 rebounds.

With the Aces leading 2-1 in the best-of-five series, the basketball world now eagerly anticipates Game 4, scheduled for Wednesday in New York.

Following two deflating losses in Las Vegas, the Liberty’s shooting prowess finally found its mark, as they drained an astounding 13 three-pointers, with four of them coming from Jones.

Liberty coach Sandy Brondello lauded Jones, acknowledging her pivotal role in the team’s resurgence, stating, ‘Jonquel was huge for us.’

On the opposing side, Kelsey Plum exhibited an outstanding performance, accumulating a game-high 29 points, while A’ja Wilson notched 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Aces, who aspire to become the first WNBA team to achieve back-to-back titles since the Los Angeles Sparks in 2001-02.

Unfortunately for the Aces, guard Chelsea Gray suffered a foot injury, casting uncertainty over her availability for Game 4.
