Weathertech Championship: No. 91 Kelly-Moss with Riley Porsche Withdraws from Petit Le Mans

The No. 91 Kellymoss with Riley Porsche 911 GT3 R has been withdrawn from the upcoming Motul Petit Le Mans due to a non-racing injury sustained by Alan Metni. This unfortunate incident has led the team to withdraw the GTD class contender.

Originally, Alan Metni was set to share the car with selected driver Kay van Berlo from Porsche Motorsport North America and Porsche-affiliated driver Jaxon Evans. However, the team faced challenges in assembling an alternative driver lineup for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season finale.

Andy Kilcoyne, the team’s co-owner, explained the difficulty of managing back-to-back races, including the Indianapolis event just before Petit Le Mans and a tire test at Watkins Glen in between. Given the circumstances and the absence of championship stakes, the team made the tough decision that the risk outweighed the potential reward.

As a result, the team will focus its efforts on the No. 92 Porsche, driven by Alec Udell, David Brule, and Julien Andlauer.

Looking ahead, Andy Kilcoyne confirmed plans for a two-car operation in 2024, with both the No. 91 and No. 92 Porsches conditionally approved as full-season entries. While there is consideration for one of the cars to compete in the GTD Pro class, final lineup decisions are still in progress. Kilcoyne stated that they are close to finalizing the details and lineups for the upcoming season.
