The Polish stable made headlines worldwide in June this year by winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in the LMP2 class. Now, it is adjusting its racing program to the changes in regulations that eliminate the LMP2 class from the World Endurance Championship, while not forgoing participation in European series, both in LMP2 and LMP3.

Prior to the Motul Petit Le Mans race at the Road Atlanta circuit this weekend, IEC confirmed its participation in all seven rounds of the IMSA calendar in the LMP2 class in 2024, starting with the 24-hour Rolex race at the Daytona International Speedway in January.

Kuba Śmiechowski has been confirmed as the team’s silver-rated driver for endurance races, while the team is currently seeking bronze and pro-rated drivers to join the crew.

Inter Europol Competition was established in 2010 and has become a significant force in sports car racing. The Polish team, based in Małopol, near Warsaw, competed this year in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the European Le Mans Series, the Le Mans Cup, the Asian Le Mans Series, and the Ultimate Cup. Currently, it is contending for championship titles in the first two of the mentioned series.

PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports is headquartered in Fresno, California. Since its inception in 1990, it has achieved numerous successes and won several championship titles. After joining the American Le Mans Series in 2010, it continued its successful participation in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, including securing three consecutive championship titles in the Michelin Endurance Cup from 2020 to 2022.

In recent years, PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports has demonstrated itself as a strong team in the IMSA series. Having clinched championships, it was a natural step for us to establish this partnership. I am eagerly anticipating this adventure. Our collaboration with PR1 allows us to take another step forward in our development. I am confident that we will be competitive right from the start,” stated Sascha Fassbender, the head of the Inter Europol Competition team.

We are pleased to confirm that we have signed a contract with PR1 owner Bobby Oergel for the 2024 season. Kuba will participate in five endurance races as the mandatory silver-rated driver. We are currently in talks with Pro and Bronze-rated drivers to contend for the championship from the outset,” he added.

We are thrilled to combine efforts with the Inter Europol Competition team in the LMP2 program. Their successes are exciting for our collective future and illustrate what we can achieve together when we join forces. Both teams possess various strengths, making our joint future truly exhilarating,” declared Ray Mathiasen and Bobby Oergel, the heads of the PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports team.
