During the Qatar Grand Prix weekend, track limits became a focal point of discussion, prompting FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem to emphasize the pressing need for a resolution.

Ben Sulayem has cautioned that venues like Austria and Qatar could potentially be removed from the Formula 1 calendar unless a concrete solution to track limit infringements is promptly implemented.

Throughout the Qatar race weekend, drivers faced the constant challenge of having their lap times invalidated. Notably, Oscar Piastri learned in his parc fermé interview post-qualifying that his impressive third-place effort had been nullified, relegating him to sixth position.

Several drivers incurred five-second penalties for breaching track limits during the race, with Sergio Perez and Pierre Gasly each accumulating a total of 15 seconds in penalties.

In Austria earlier this season, track limit violations were so rampant that stewards struggled to process the sheer volume of offenses. Consequently, the final classification was delayed by several hours after the conclusion of the Grand Prix.

Ben Sulayem underscores that venues could face exclusion from future F1 events if a viable solution is not swiftly devised.

We faced a similar situation in Austria, with 1200 instances, Ben Sulayem disclosed to a select group of media, including RacingNews365.com.

While I commend the stewards for their vigilance, is this the ultimate fix? No.

The key lies in enhancing the track itself. I understand there may be resistance to this notion, but truthfully, without it, there can be no race. It’s as straightforward as that. We cannot afford to overlook this issue.
