The 40th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament is ready to kick off at the local Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Burlton Park, starting from October 25. This annual event serves as a tribute to the late Surjit Singh Randhawa, former captain of the Indian hockey team and Olympian, who tragically lost his life in a car accident near Jalandhar on January 7, 1984. The tournament is organized by the Surjit Hockey Society, Jalandhar, and features sixteen participating teams.

Vishesh Sarangal, Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar, announced that for the 32nd consecutive year, the primary sponsor of the tournament will be the prominent Maharatana Oil Company, ‘Indian Oil Corporation Limited,’ with co-sponsorship from the Gakhal Brothers of America.

The 40th edition of the tournament will follow a knockout-cum-league format.
