In the NHL matchup between the Nashville Predators and the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night, Roman Josi’s stellar performance, contributing a goal and two assists, fueled Nashville to a 3-2 victory. This win marked the Predators’ fifth consecutive triumph, while simultaneously halting the Jets’ five-game winning streak.

Yakov Trenin and Gustav Nyquist also showcased their scoring prowess, with Juuse Saros guarding the net and making an impressive 33 saves.

“We’re capable of winning these tough games,” Saros expressed. “It’s a good sign for the whole team.”

Winnipeg’s Josh Morrissey and Cole Perfetti managed to find the back of the net, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Predators’ lead. Laurent Brossoit, the Jets’ goaltender, made 24 saves in the effort.

Trenin initiated the scoring with a goal in the final seconds of the opening period. Josi’s shot rebounded off Brossoit, landing perfectly for Trenin to capitalize.

Josi’s tough-angle wrist shot in the second period extended Nashville’s lead, followed by Nyquist’s power-play goal, sealing the score at 3-0.

“I kind of got lucky on that goal,” Josi humbly acknowledged. “I think I had better chances before, but it goes in. I want to produce, but if we’re winning and I don’t produce, I’m totally fine with that.”

Nyquist’s goal also marked his eighth consecutive game with points, showcasing consistent offensive prowess.

Morrissey and Perfetti managed to break through Saros’ defense in the third period, ending the shutout bid in a span of 42 seconds.

“Saros is a good goalie, he made some big saves,” Perfetti acknowledged. “He’s a top goalie, so you’ve got to tip your cap sometimes. We created lots, and that’s all you can ask for. The puck isn’t going to go in every single time.”

The game’s intensity sets the stage for the upcoming matchups, with the Jets hosting Dallas on Tuesday night and the Predators welcoming Pittsburgh on the same evening.
