The recent Presidents Cup has officially revealed the selection criteria for the US and International teams for the 2024 season. One crucial criterion is that all members of both teams must be eligible to participate in PGA Tour events or be supported by the PGA Tour. Additionally, golfers must attend tournaments that earn points in the World Golf Ranking (OWGR) and the FedEx Cup.

Unfortunately, LIV Golf events have been denied points by OWGR, and LIV Golf members have no chance to participate in PGA Tour-supported events. Consequently, the opportunity for LIV golfers to compete in the 2024 Presidents Cup is almost non-existent.

International Team Criteria

The International team will consist of six automatic selections and six captain’s picks.

  • The OWGR will be used to determine International Presidents Cup team members.
  • The six automatic selections will be the top-ranked international golfers on the OWGR after the conclusion of the 2024 BMW Championship.
  • To qualify for these automatic selections, players must participate in a minimum of 15 OWGR-point-earning events from September 12, 2022, to August 26, 2024.
  • All players must be eligible for PGA Tour events or be supported by the PGA Tour.

US Team Criteria

For the US team, six members will earn automatic selections based on the points they accumulate in FedEx Cup events from January 1, 2023, to August 25, 2024.

  • Sentry 2023 – BMW Championship 2023 (1 FedEx Cup point = 1 point)
  • Fortinet Championship 2023 – RSM Classic 2023 (1 FedEx Cup point = 1 point)
  • Players Championship 2024 and major championships (1 FedEx Cup point = 2 points)
  • Signature events and Playoffs 2024 (1 FedEx Cup point = 1.5 points)
  • All other PGA Tour events in 2024 (1 FedEx Cup point = 1.5 points)
