There will be only one LIV Golf event in Australia in 2024, even if the Saudi-backed tour continues, despite interest from various Australian states following the successful inaugural tournament in Adelaide.

While the future of LIV Golf remains uncertain due to ongoing discussions between the PGA Tour and the Saudi Public Investment Fund regarding their new partnership’s final structure, tour officials are moving forward with their plans for the next year.

After the remarkable success in Adelaide, multiple Australian states, including Queensland, NSW, and Western Australia, submitted bids to host tournaments, among nearly 50 entities from various countries. However, it appears that all these efforts were in vain, as leaked information about the 2024 schedule indicates that Australia will have only one event.

Instead, South Korea and Hong Kong are expected to be added to the international roster. Australian golf star Cameron Smith expressed his hope for more domestic events but remained unsure about the progress of such discussions.

The CEO of LIV, Greg Norman, remained optimistic about the tour’s future, citing its growing strength and the success of its players and brand. He mentioned an exciting 2024 schedule with both familiar and new venues, emphasizing their expanding reach into different regions.

Despite reports of discussions breaking down between the PGA Tour and the PIF close to the December 31 deadline for confirming the new golfing landscape, Norman displayed unwavering confidence in LIV’s future, both when the news was first announced in June and in the present.

The South Australian government has inked a four-year deal to host LIV events in the state.
