HARRISON, N.J. — The Kansas City Current wrapped up their rollercoaster season with a draw.

Despite conceding two early goals to NJ/NY Gotham FC, the Current rallied back to equalize in the first half, holding the score at 2-2 until the final whistle as the NWSL regular season concluded on Sunday.

KC Current sets new attendance record in their last home game Having been eliminated from the NWSL playoffs for a few weeks, the Current had nothing but pride and a passion for the game driving them in this stage of the season.

Midge Purce opened the scoring for Gotham in the sixth minute with a left-footed shot, assisted by Delanie Sheehan, beating AD Franch.

Yazmeen Ryan extended the lead with a remarkable solo effort in the 15th minute, sprinting past two defenders before unleashing a powerful right-footed strike into the upper left corner.

Kansas City’s Alex Loera delivered a precise deep ball to rookie Alexa Spaanstra, who evaded two defenders and lofted a left-footed shot over the goalkeeper, putting the Current on the scoreboard in the 26th minute.

In the 36th minute, Loera played a pass into the left attacking corner for Debinha, who crossed it towards Kristen Hamilton but was inadvertently deflected into her own net by Gotham rookie Jenna Nighswonger.

Despite being outshot 14-8 and conceding more opportunities (10-4), the KC Current finished the season with an 8-2-12 record, placing 11th in the NWSL.
