The Canadian Premier League has unveiled its five top contenders for the coveted Player of the Year award. Pacific FC’s Manny Aparicio, Forge FC’s Kyle Bekker, Halifax Wanderers FC’s Lorenzo Callegari, and Cavalry FC’s Daan Klomp and Ali Musse have all been nominated.

Kyle Bekker, 33, a consistent nominee, secured seven assists and three goals, showcasing his exceptional skill set. With 51 chances created and 7.02 expected assists, Bekker maintained a strong performance throughout the season.

Manny Aparicio, 28, contributed significantly to Pacific FC’s performance, netting four goals and assisting with five. Notably, his absence affected the team’s results, underlining his crucial role in their lineup.

Lorenzo Callegari, 25, a product of Paris Saint-Germain’s youth system, played a vital role in Halifax’s successful season, setting franchise records and leading the league in passes and touches. With six assists to his name, his contribution was pivotal for his team.

Daan Klomp, 25, played a key defensive role for Cavalry FC, remaining a consistent presence throughout the regular season. His impressive statistics, including 1,494 completed passes, 17 blocks, and four goals, underscore his importance to the team’s defensive strategy.

Ali Musse, 27, played an instrumental part in Cavalry’s journey to the top of the regular-season standings. With five goals, six assists, and 154 duels won, his performance was crucial to the team’s success.

The winner, chosen through a vote by the CPL club technical leadership and media, will be revealed on October 27 in Hamilton, ahead of the CPL final on October 28. All awards are based on players’ performances during the regular season and do not include Canadian Championship, CONCACAF, or playoff action.
