Nepal’s National Football Team Revealed for FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

KATHMANDU, Oct 12: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) revealed the 23-player Nepali national football team set to compete against Laos in the first leg of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers.

Head Coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese introduced the squad, which features newcomers Amrit Shrestha and Sanjeev Bista. Coach Annese views the Laos match as a prime opportunity and believes that the team’s infusion of young and dynamic talent will perform admirably in the tournament.

The national team welcomed Himalayan Sherpa Club’s defender Amrit Shrestha and New Road team’s forward Sanjeev Bishta for their maiden appearance in the squad.

Nepal’s inaugural World Cup Qualifier game versus Laos is scheduled at 5:30 pm in Dasarath Stadium, Tripureshwor, Kathmandu. The competition follows a ‘Home and Away’ format, with the winning team advancing to the next round of the World Cup Qualifiers.

Team captain Kiran Chemjong expressed readiness for the Laos encounter. The squad comprises goalkeepers Kiran Kumar Limbu, Deep Karki, and Abhisekh Baral, defenders Sanish Shrestha, Ananta Tamang, Ashish Gurung, Rohit Chand, Anjan Rai, Ashish Chaudhary, and Amrit Shrestha, midfielders Arik Bista, Sudeep Gurung, Awash Lamichhane, Utsav Rai, Kritish Ratna Chunju, and Manish Dangi, and forwards Anjan Bista, Ayush Ghalan, Gillespye Jung Karki, Dinesh Henjan, Hisub Thapaliya, and Sanjiv Bista.
