The England skipper doesn’t want his team to take added pressure just because they won the last World Cup

Jos Buttler emphasized England’s need to adapt to various conditions in the 2023 World Cup while maintaining their high-level play. The defending champions, known for their aggressive cricket, will kick off their campaign against New Zealand on October 5 in Ahmedabad, followed by a match in Dharamsala against Bangladesh.

They are set to play on spin-friendly tracks in Delhi and Lucknow while venues like Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad favor their style of cricket.

Buttler highlighted the importance of quickly assessing conditions, stating, “Reading the conditions quickly will be a big part of the game. But we will always try and adapt our style of attacking cricket to whatever surfaces we’re playing on.

Regarding the toss, he acknowledged its significance in some matches due to dew but emphasized the need for overall good cricket to secure wins.

Buttler mentioned the advantage of having played in India, thanks to the IPL, but noted that this familiarity applies to players from various countries.

He discussed the Ahmedabad pitch’s behavior, suggesting it could favor both batsmen and bowlers.

Despite limited ODI matches since their 2019 World Cup win, Buttler highlighted the influence of T20 cricket on all formats and stressed that England doesn’t see themselves as defending champions but as contenders with ambitious goals for the tournament.
