With just a couple of days left until the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 kicks off, predictions are rife. The ODI spectacle commences on October 5, featuring a clash between defending champions England and New Zealand at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Among the tournament favorites are India, England, Australia, and Pakistan, while South Africa and New Zealand are considered dark horses.

One of the most highly anticipated showdowns of the World Cup is the India vs. Pakistan clash on October 14 in Ahmedabad.

Gautam Gambhir, a two-time World Cup winner, anticipates a stellar tournament performance from the two rival captains, Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam, with the bat.

Rohit boasts an outstanding record when playing at home, accumulating 4148 runs at an impressive average of 58.42 from 80 matches in India.

Regarding Rohit Sharma, Gambhir commented, “The kind of ability he (Rohit) has, India is playing the World Cup at home. We all know about Rohit Sharma’s record at home. He has three or four double hundreds. So, I’m sure he will be really looking forward to and he will be eager to turn it around for India.”

Gambhir predicts that Babar Azam will shine in the World Cup, foreseeing three to four centuries from the Pakistani batsman.

Regarding Babar Azam, Gambhir said, “The kind of technique Babar Azam has, I think he will score three or four centuries for Pakistan in this World Cup.”

Previously, the former Indian opener had praised Babar for his exceptional quality and ability, placing him in a league of his own among his contemporaries.

“Babar Azam can set this World Cup on fire. I have seen a lot of players with so much time to bat. I think that Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, and Joe Root are there, but Babar Azam has a different level of quality,” Gambhir had remarked.
