Unveiling the Cutting-Edge Track at Jay M. Robinson High, Cabarrus County.

Cabarrus County, North Carolina, is now home to a cutting-edge facility ready to host major track and field events. Situated at Jay M. Robinson High School in Concord, this state-of-the-art venue boasts a MONDO Super X 720 Track and Field surface, the world’s most durable practice competition track system, endorsed by World Athletics and Paralympics.

The project is a testament to strategic investment in tourism by the Cabarrus County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CCCVB), which is committed to enhancing the quality of life for the local community and providing benefits for student athletes who will use the facility. The project is a result of a partnership between CCCVB, Cabarrus County Government, and Cabarrus County Schools, with funding from the county’s occupancy tax.

Mondo, a global leader in track and field and indoor sport flooring, installed the track. This facility positions Cabarrus County as a premier competition destination and promises to boost tourism and economic growth. It will attract not only local athletes but also regional and national collegiate-level events.

The Chair of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, Steve Morris, highlighted the facility’s significance as a regional sports leader and a boost to tourism. This investment in top-grade surfaces for track and field brings the Olympics’ quality to the county.

With its ideal location, favorable climate, and affordability, Cabarrus County is already an attractive destination for amateur sports. The addition of this facility cements its position as a prime host for track and field competitions, from regional to national collegiate events. Jay M. Robinson High School was chosen as the venue for its proximity to area hotels.

Dr. John Kopicki, Superintendent of Cabarrus County Schools, expressed gratitude for the partnership and emphasized how the investment benefits not only student athletes but the entire community. This facility elevates Cabarrus County to a prominent position within North Carolina and the region, providing preeminent athletic facilities.
