Davies Named MAC Runner of the Week

Eastern Michigan University’s Esme Davies, a senior in women’s cross country hailing from Lake District, England’s Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, has earned the title of Mid-American Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, as officially announced on October 17.

Davies’ latest accolade comes on the heels of a remarkable performance in her fourth consecutive race, where she achieved a personal best time of 19:54.3 in the 6k event at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M University. Her impressive performance ranked her ninth individually out of a total of 400 competitors. Prior to this achievement, Davies secured three consecutive top-five finishes, taking second place at the Jeff Drenth Memorial on September 1, third place at the Mel Brodt Collegiate Open on September 15, and fourth place at the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic on September 30. In the grand scheme, Davies played a crucial role in guiding the Eagles to a ninth-place finish out of 42 teams in Texas.

Looking ahead, the Eagles will be back in action on Friday, October 20, hosting the Annual EMU Fall Classic at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Michigan. The men’s 5k event will kick off at 4:30 p.m., followed closely by the women’s 5k at 5 p.m. Fans can keep track of the action through live stats, and final results will be posted once all times and finishes are confirmed.
