In a remarkable prime-time showcase, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins delivered one of his career-best performances. He completed 35 of 45 passes for 378 yards, averaging 8.4 yards per attempt, and threw two touchdowns while enduring one interception.

Cousins managed this feat despite missing some key pass-catching targets during the game. Notably, star wide receiver Justin Jefferson was absent, and rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison and tight end T.J. Hockenson had their share of injuries.

The San Francisco 49ers’ pass rush struggled to make an impact, and their quarterback, Brock Purdy, had a tough night, throwing two costly interceptions late in the game.

On the offensive front, 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk stepped up in the first half in the absence of Deebo Samuel, securing five receptions for 56 yards, but he was shut out in the second half. Tight end George Kittle contributed with five receptions for 78 yards, but it wasn’t enough. Running back Christian McCaffrey shone by scoring twice, setting a record for consecutive games with an offensive touchdown (16).

Minnesota’s offensive line performed admirably, with no lineman allowing more than two quarterback pressures. Kirk Cousins remained untouched, avoiding any sacks throughout the game. T.J. Hockenson added 11 receptions for 86 yards, keeping Minnesota on track in the second half. Speedster Brandon Powell made several crucial receptions late in the game, finishing with 64 yards on four receptions.

Defensively, the 49ers struggled with a pass rush win rate of just 15.6%, their lowest since 2017. However, their off-ball linebackers made some key plays. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year, edge defender Nick Bosa, had limited success in the pass rush.

On the Vikings’ side, Danielle Hunter, the edge defender, had a remarkable game, registering a 20.7% pass-rush win rate and adding another sack to his league-leading tally of nine for the season. Safety Camryn Bynum sealed the game with two interceptions of Brock Purdy.

In the rookie spotlight, 49ers kicker Jake Moody had a mixed game, missing an early field goal but later redeeming himself with a 55-yard kick. Meanwhile, Vikings’ first-round rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison recovered from an early interception by making seven receptions for 124 yards and two touchdowns, including a contested catch.
