In a dismal display, Daniel Jones faced an onslaught of 11 sacks and committed three turnovers, plunging the Giants to a 1-3 record in the 2023 season.

On October 2, 2023, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the New York Giants suffered a crushing 24-3 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks during Monday Night Football.

Throughout the game, the Giants struggled to shield their quarterback, Daniel Jones, from Seattle’s relentless defense, resulting in an astounding 11 sacks. Adding to their woes, Jones’s errors cost them dearly.

The downward spiral began in the first quarter when Jones’s fumble led to a DK Metcalf touchdown. However, the turning point came late in the third quarter. With the Giants striving to narrow the gap to just one score, Jones threw an interception, caught by Devon Witherspoon, the fifth overall draft pick. Witherspoon returned the interception an astonishing 97 yards for a touchdown.

Shortly thereafter, Jones added to his woes with his sixth interception of the young season.

The Giants’ latest loss leaves them with a dismal 1-3 record, marked by 46 points scored, 23 sacks allowed, an alarming minus-eight turnover margin, and a staggering minus-76 point differential. Alongside the New York Jets, they are one of only two teams in the league that have yet to execute an offensive play while holding a lead this season, according to ESPN Stats and Information.

This disappointing style of play comes after an unexpected 9-7-1 season that featured a playoff win and earned Daniel Jones a four-year, $160 million contract with $82 million fully guaranteed. However, that contract has quickly become a source of ridicule among NFL fans, who lampooned both the fifth-year quarterback and the Giants for their lackluster performance on the prime-time stage.
