Ilocos Norde, Philippines – Many Senatorrhea activists of President Ferdinand Marcos Junior’s executive slash have reaffirmed their commitment to protect the sovereignty of the Philippines on the West Philippines Sea.
During a campaign example in Illocos Norde, Marcos’s Fort, candidates insisted that national policies were needed to ensure maritime rights.
The Senate majority leader and re -election, Francis Tolondino, expressed support for the multi -faceted approach of the administration, emphasizing that the issue was not a bilateral matter between China and the Philippines.
The author of the Philippines Maritime Regional Act and the Philippines Island Sea Lanes Act, Tolandino, signed the law -emphasized their importance in strengthening sea rights. This is re -confirming the country’s rights to the Philippines Navy and the Philippines Coast Guard.
“This is a long process, so we started it with those two laws, which acts as a legal structure for us to confirm our maritime rights,” said the Philippines.
Former Senate leader Tito Soto reflected the feelings of Tollandino, noted that implementation is now important.
Soto, who filed a similar law during his tenure as Senator, said: “When we filed it, we talked about it. If China has a nine line line, we may need a nine line line. This is very simple, because we cannot leave it to the United Nations Conference for UNCLOS or Sea Laws. ”
Former Home Secretary Benjamin Abalos said the permanent court has already ruled in favor of the Philippines.
“We won the Tribunal. That victory is ours. We cannot give it; this is ours,” said Abalos in the Philippines.
Representative Erwin Dulbo (ACT-CIS Party-List) took a very rigorous position and declared that it was worth making sacrifices to protect the West Philippines Sea.
“Thousands of Katipuneros died to protect this country. Why should we not?”
