The Ebony State Government yesterday stopped the investigation of fewer than 180 defendants involved in the Epium and Esa-Efum communal clash in the Abhakali Magistrate’s courts.
In a letter to the courts, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Dr. Ben Odo, urged them to expel and release the defendants, because the government is no longer interested in the case.
Mrs. Linds Ogodo, the Chief Justice of the Court 1, Ogemba Ish-Oko and the Court 2, released the defendants in their judgments.
For four years, the defendants at the Ebony Amendment Center were first accused of communal conflict.
Nigeria’s News Agency (NAN) Recall that the defendants were members of the National Road Transport Workers Union (Nurtw) running at the Epium Motor Park.
It was reported that some of the members belong to the Efium, while others belong to the Esa-Efium in the state of the state.
The conflict began to disagree between the two sections of the defendants regarding the control of the park, but then increased the communal conflict between Efium and Essa-effective communities, resulting in loss of life and destruction of property.
The two communities involved in the long -standing remand of the defendants signed a peace agreement in 2024.
A delegation from communities presented a peace agreement to the state government, which prompted the decision to stop the defendants’ lawsuit.
