Tokyo – Japanese court on Wednesday accused a person who bombed a pipe bomb at a 2023 campaign in Fumio Kishita in Japan, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to local media reports.

Kishida was accused of attempting to kill Kishida at a small fishing port in Western city, April 15, 2023 and for four allegations, including violation of laws and other weapons laws.
In the verdict, according to Japan’s public television and other media, the Vakayama district court sentenced Kimura to 10 years in prison without mentioning any of the five accused. The court did not immediately confirm the verdict.

At the starting session of the investigation at the beginning of February, Kimura admitted that he was not guilty of attempted murder and that he did not want to kill Kishida.
The then Prime Minister was not injured, but two people suffered minor injuries. Kimura was arrested on the spot.
The attack took place a year after the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during a campaign speech in Nara, another city of West Japan.
