Mybroadband Intelligence Results are not only determined by the speed and the overall 5G coverage.
Mobile Service Provider MTN was the best mobile network in South Africa in 2024, followed by Vodakam, Cell C and Delgo.
This is according to mybroadband Mobile Network Quality Report Intelligence Published on Tuesday.
The report includes the period from January 1 to 2024 to December 31, and includes 1.17 million speed tests performed by 18,649 mobile data users.
The best network
Mdin The network performance maintained its number one status in all aspects of the performance tests and significantly surpassed its main competitors.
It had the highest average download speed, 80.88 MPBS, followed by Vodakam, 65.14 MPBS; Cell C, 54.43 MPBS; Delgo, 34.07 MPBS; And rain, 21.82 MPBS.
MTN was the best performance network in major cities including Dishwane, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Nelson Mandela Bay, Ekurhulani, Etekwini and Mangang.

The report revealed that the MTN’s strong performance network was followed by comprehensive investment and more than 200 new radio access network operations, including modernization, new site structures, sector and transmission improvements.
It also implemented advanced network optimization techniques such as software improvements, energy-efficient equipment and smart load balance.
Vodakam
Vodakam reached the top 5G performance in South Africa, which is run by continuous expansion of its 5G network.
Cell C was the biggest surprise of 2024. Its network speed has doubled in the last eighteen months, and it closes vodacomi second.

To determine South Africa’s best mobile network, each network was awarded a “network grade score” based on download speed, upload speed and delay.
The network quality score in 10 shows how a network was operated in relation to other networks.
The network quality score is 9.9, followed by Vodakam 7.72, Cell C 7.12, Delgom 5.07, and rain 4.51.
